When a death occurs we are experienced in helping those closest deal with what can be a daunting administrative process. We pride ourselves on finalising the affairs of the deceased person in as smooth and quick a manner as possible.

Administration of Estates

At Braidwoods we have extensive experience of estate administration. When a person dies, his property requires to be gathered in and distributed among those entitled to it. This entitlement may flow from deceased person’s Will or be governed by the law of intestacy in circumstances where no Will has been made or the Will has not been wholly effective. At what is a stressful time for people, we seek to keep the family and beneficiaries advised of progress and to assist professionally and sympathetically with what is often “uncharted territory”. We also advise on what is known under the Law of Scotland as Legal Rights, claims on your estate by a spouse and children which cannot be defeated by the making of a contradictory Will.

It is almost always the case that the administration of estates is made easier all round if a proper up to date Will is in place and as part of our Will making service we will assist clients in considering the tax implications of their estates acting along with their Accountants or other advisers to ensure all round advice is provided.
